Do as the Curaçao people do for lunch, and sample authentic local food at Curaçao’s famous Old Market Food Court. You will find it when you pass the new market and take a right a the post office. Hygiene and food quality are excellent, portions are generous, and prices can’t be beat. Seating is strictly first come, first served, at a few small tables or long counters. Each stand is independently operated. Notice the small paintings depicting rural life of old that adorn the vents above the cooking areas.

RESTAURANT PLAYA FORTI

This restaurant was built in 1958 on the ruins of a fortress, constructed by the English, during the Napoleonic era. The original canons in front of the restaurant still reflect that adventurous period. This beautiful and historic site high up the rocks, offers the visitor a superb view of the most western part of the island and also a wonderful sunset view. Playa Forti serves a variety of local and international dishes. The specialties include red snapper à la Curaçao, stewgoat, tenderloin and even cheeseburgers. Playa Forti invites you to try the fantastic pina coladas while enjoying the sunset.

SEA SIDE TERRACe

If you want to eat fresh fish at a good price and if you want to eat that fish in the shadow of an Appeldam tree, while resting your feet in the waters of the Caribbean Sea, there is at least one place you must be sure to visit: Sea Side Terrace. This local restaurant is situated in a panted container besides hotel Breezes. From the road you can see only the back of the container, but when you turn around the corner, you enter a cozy little terrace, with at its feet al little beach with palms and even a few straw umbrellas.
